POPs are everywhere. OCM will help you protect the environment.

22/08/2023

Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are a group of chemicals that are resistant to environmental degradation and can accumulate in the environment and in living organisms. They are harmful to human health and the environment, and they can cause a variety of health problems, including cancer, reproductive problems, and neurological damage.

With over 35 years history in the ITAD industry, how waste is handled at OCM is one of our priorities to ensure we comply with our ISO 14001 Environmental Management System’s objectives. Sorting of components and some materials is handled by OCM before being sent to recycling partners for further destruction and processing. All recycling partners have the relevant licences and registrations in place and are assessed annually to ensure they comply with OCM’s requirements.

Any waste items we identify or suspect as containing POPs will be packaged separately and taken to an incinerator that creates electricity for the domestic market.
